After calling for the Jeffery Epstein files to be released by the FBI during his 2024 presidential campaign, Donald Trump is now claiming the Epstein files are a hoax. In a recent post on Trumps social media platform Truth Social, the president claims the reason democrats are focusing on the "Epstein hoax" is to draw attention away from the government shutdown which he blames them for. Recently emails between President Trump and Epstein from before Epstein's arrest were released. In one of these emails from 2019 Epstein says that Trump was well aware the sex trafficking Epstein was conducting. Before these emails the main source used by democrats were pictures of Trump and Epstein together. With these new leaked emails, it would now appear that Donald Trump is in or has heavy ties with the Epstein files.

This is comically false. According to Times Magazine and the Department of Justice, Trump has been mentioned in the new release of the Epstein files hundreds of times. The New York Times found that he was mentioned in more than 5,300 files. The Epstein files contain documents, images, and videos detailing the criminal activities committed by Jeffrey Epstein and his close social circle, which includes the elite members of society. Bill Gates, Prince Andrew Mountbatten, Lord Mandelson, Melania Trump, Elon Musk, Sarah Ferguson, Richard Branson, Steven Tisch, Ehud Barak, Howard Lutnick, and many more. Trump has ties to the Epstein files, not only because he is explicitly mentioned in them, but also because he was a close friend of Epstein. There are many pictures and videos of the two together in social and casual settings. The DOJ released the flight log for Epstein's plane, and Trump was mentioned.
