The claim that “protestors in Portland wheeled out a guillotine in front of the ICE building” is a tricky claim because, yes it is true that protestors wheeled out a mock guillotine but it is also misleading because it wasn’t necessarily the highlight of the protest.  Multiple reports like OregonLive, AP, and Fox News all show that during at least one protest protestors did display a makeshift guillotine near the ICE facility. This does support the claim to be true, however, it seems to be misleading as it wasn’t the central or defining part of the demonstrations. According to OregonLive, a local and reputable news reporter, the guillotine wasn’t listed as a central part of the very detailed time line of events for the protests. I would say this suggests that the guillotine did appear, but wasn’t a main part of the protest. Fox News headlines imply that the guillotine was the entire focus of the protests and made it like a war scene. Overall, everything does point to a guillotine being there, but the Fox News report that was referenced in this claim seems to be misleading of the actual nature of the guillotine.

This claim can go either way. Fox News is a trusted news source, and because of what is currently happening in the world, it can very much be true. After reading the article, I saw that a guillotine was used. I went to fact-check it. After looking it u,p I see several news sources that say it was a mock one. Therefore, it in fact is not a false headline that shows that it can go either way. Oregon Live a trusted news source explains the mock weapon.
