In investigating this claim, it was found to be false. Joe Erlinger, president of McDonalds has publicly open up about prices and wrote an open letter to its audience. I verify this information by accessing to the original letter written as my primary source and by investigating using secondary source, thedailymeal.com.
For my primary source I investigated the letter written by Joe which publicly says " Recently, we have seen viral social post and poorly source reports that McDonalds prices have increases, which is inaccurate. According to his letter McDonalds prices have increased not due to inflammation but because the cost of running the restaurant. The input costs have gone up 40 % throughout the years. Which has made the prices to increase. Although prices have gotten higher it isn't due to inflammation.
For my secondary source I chose The Daily Meal which explains how people have exaggerated the prices of McDonalds. Such as saying the Big Mac is 18 dollars now but in reality, it is 5.49. Also, being realistic McDonalds started off by selling cheap meals back in the day but also so much has changed that it's no longer possible to have those prices back. With the increased of production and the costs of running the restaurant it is just not possible to keep the prices steady.
By investigating this claim, I found it to be misleading, yes prices have gotten higher but it's not for the reasons the public think about.
