Obama set up the Maidan coup in Ukraine, installed Victoria Nuland and Hunter Biden. The Dems really aren't very different from Repubs, just more subtle.

I did a fact check on this and found it to be false. The Euromaidan protests in Ukraine were caused by Ukrainians protesting corruption, connected to government connnections with Russia. While the US did back the idea of a political change, there is no evidence that Obama set up a coup. Additionally, Hunter Biden's role on the board of Burisma had nothing to do with the US government. Victoria Nuland was a US Assistant Secretary of State and was not installed in Ukraine. This source, a statement made by Obama calls for a peaceful resolution. It shows that the White House was open to finding solutions and was not planning anything like a coup.

This report on Hunter Biden and Burisma shows the timeline of Hunter joining Burisma's board. While it does talk about a potential conflict of interest, it concludes that nothing was done illegally by Joe Biden.  https://www.finance.senate.gov/imo/media/doc/HSGAC%20-%20Finance%20Joint%20Report%202020.09.23.pdf?

I agree with your fact-check, and it’s worth emphasizing how much that original claim collapses once the details are separated.

Euromaidan was a mass protest movement led by Ukrainians reacting to corruption and Yanukovych’s reversal on the EU agreement, not something “set up” by Obama. While the U.S. supported democratic reforms and called for a peaceful outcome, there’s no evidence of the U.S. orchestrating a coup. Obama’s own public statements at the time stress de-escalation rather than regime change: (Following your link) https://obamawhitehouse.archives.gov/blog/2014/02/20/responding-situation-ukraine.

Victoria Nuland also wasn’t “installed” in Ukraine; she was a U.S. Assistant Secretary of State doing her job as a diplomat. And Hunter Biden’s role at Burisma was a private corporate appointment, not a government action. The Senate report acknowledges potential ethical concerns but explicitly finds no illegal conduct or intervention by Joe Biden.

Criticizing U.S. foreign policy or pointing out elite overlap between parties is fair, OOP, but that critique loses credibility when it relies on claims that don’t match the evidence.

I think this is a very well checked statement. Both of your resources are very reputable and come from government sites. I also completely agree that this statement is false because of the sources provided with your information. It is quite obvious that you checked this thoroughly. The initial claim makes no sense and you tackled it professionally. Nice Job!

I believe that this retort to the claim is both well researched and does not conflate here-say with actual backed evidence. The sources used seem to be trustworthy , much more than that used by the main post and the information displayed is backed by clear and definitive reasoning while not targeting political parties and their actions as the original post did.
