Cat can get jealous and present aggressive behaviors when their resources are spilt by newcomers or receive a lack of attention from the owner. Jealousy can be defined as an emotion of insecurity.

Cats have a very wide range of emotions, including jealousy, so this claim is true. Along with feeling love for their owners, cats can also feel jealous of other pets or people. Similar to humans, when cats find “their person” they grow a strong bond with them. So, if another cat impedes on their territory, or interacts with their human, the feline companion can become hostile. For instance, some cats dislike when their owners have another cat’s scent on them. But felines all have different personalities, and some get more “jealous” than others.

Based on an article by PetMD, many animal behaviorists agree that cats “do show a form of jealousy,” but that it is different from the way that humans feel envy. For humans, envy is when we feel resentful of someone else, maybe because their lives appear more glamorous, they have better belongings, and so on. While humans may become more reserved when they’re jealous of a person or of a relationship, jealousy in cats “presents as aggression.”

Cats have egos, and they don’t like their status to be shaken. When they sense another cat trying to take control, they react harshly. This form of jealousy is somewhat similar to our own, but felt in a different way. According to Kinship, another sign of jealousy could be destruction, such as knocking over objects or biting. Additionally, as stated by Cats.com, kitties can “get jealous of other cats’ meals.”

Overall, it’s important to show your cat lots of affection so they don’t feel left out, and take out their anger on you or other pets. However, since jealousy is such a complex emotion, it can be difficult to understand to what extent cats may experience it.

This is true. The claim that cats can experience jealousy and exhibit aggressive behaviors  when they receive a lack of attention from their owner is supported by several reputable sources. According to The Wildest, Daily Paws, and PetMD, common triggers for jealousy in cats include the introduction of a new pet, a lack of attention from their owner, and competition for resources such as treats and attention. Jealousy in cats can be defined as an emotion of insecurity, leading to behaviors aimed at protecting their resources or seeking attention. These sources provide insight into feline behavior and support the claim that cats are capable of experiencing jealousy and displaying related behaviors.

Yes a cat can get jealous. PetMD is a reliable source. The claim coming from this source/ someone citing this source in their clam is supported. I looked into the claim further and came across Psychology Today. This cite going into depth about how cats can feel deeper emotions especially towards their owners and jealousy is one of them. Psychology Today is also a reliable source because it is written by Doctor Karen Wu who is a professor of psychology at California State University.

True. A Spruce Cats article claims that cats can experience jealousy. Hissing, swatting, growling, excessive biting or scratching, and urinating outside the litter box are all indicators that a cat is jealous. A cat will exhibit these behaviors if they are jealous of something, even though they could indicate something else if they occur alone.

This claim is true, according to Spruce Pets. The writer of the article states that cats can have different personality types, one of them being jealousy which stems from anxiety. The author claims "Cats can become anxious when they feel they're being excluded or their environment has changed drastically or suddenly" which is why it appears for cats to be jealous.

According to multiple studies and articles, cats can in fact get jealous. One study showed that “ Results indicated that cats -- especially household pets -- reacted more intensely toward the soft-toy cat previously petted by their owner. However, cats did not respond differentially toward the two human actors.”

Cats can become jealous when they feel that their territory is being invaded. Jealousy may occur when a cat witnesses another cat, other animal, or human is getting more attention from the owner. This jealousy may change depending on the type of "cat's personality and temper." The cat can become insecure due to this jealousy from the lack of bonding, socialization and attention. Aggression and depression of the cat are all possible reactions from this jealousy. If the owner is having a difficult time keeping up with entertaining the feline, toys and play houses may help according to catological.com.
