You are correct. Individuals are continuously being affected by social media. A study done by JAMA Psychiatry in December of 2019 found that, "increased time spent using social media per day was prospectively associated with increased odds of reporting high levels of internalizing and comorbid internalizing and externalizing problems..."

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6739732/

Social media also prevents students from effectively communicating with others. The HelpGuide explains that, "social media can never be a replacement for real world-human connection" and "social media can actually make you feel more lonely and isolated".

While social media is a form of communication that encourages global connectivity, an abnormally large consumption of it can bring about negative effects.

Rather than saying "according to the link" it would be better to name your source -- especially if it is a reputable one, which would be your aim.

This is should be true, college students these days are affected by social media.

This is true, as to social media is affecting college students in mostly negative ways. The article, "Effect of Social Media on College Students" claims how social media negatively affects our social wellbeing. Scrolling through social media causes college students to create unrealistic expectations which could lead to stress or depression. Social media can also cause anxiety for some and studies show that 41.6% of college students have reported anxiety as a high concern.
