CNBC pointed out that they plan to spend $1 billion on theater releases with cinema stocks such as IMAX and AMC rising because of it. They also say this move by Apple is being done to raise its profile in Hollywood and hopefully gain more Apple TV subscribers. Now, Apple is reportedly planning to invest an additional $1 billion per year to produce films that will release theatrically.
