According to Southern New Hampshire University, the required number of hours for someone in their teens is between 8-10 hours. Anyone 18-60 is advised to get at least 7 hours of sleep per night for optimal health.

This is true. According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, adults between 18–60 years old need 7 or more hours of sleep per night. It also mentions that rather than sleeping time, improving sleep quality is important too.

Based on this research, it is true that college students needs up to 9 hours of sleep per night. According to an articled titled, “How much sleep should a college student get?” written by Southern New Hampshire University college students need more sleep than adults. Transitioning to college adds a lot of added stresses requiring teenagers to sleep 8-10 hours in a 24 hour period. Without sleep like this, one could potentially damage their circadian rhythm. changes. “Circadian rhythms can influence sleep-wake cycles, hormone release, eating habits and digestion, body temperature and other important bodily functions.”Overall, it is true that sleep is the most important aspect of a college students life and we should we getting 8-10 hours a night.
