Statistically speaking, yes flying is the safest form of travel.

According to the National Safety Council, the total number of accidents involving a U.S.-registered civilian aircraft was 1,225 in 2021. Additionally, the number of civil aviation deaths was 376 in 2021. (https://injuryfacts.nsc.org/home-and-community/safety-topics/airplane-crashes/#:~:text=Miles%20flown%20in%202021%20rebounded,2020%20to%20376%20in%202021.)

Whereas a statistical projection of traffic fatalities for 2021 from the department of transportation shows that an estimated 42,915 people died in motor vehicle traffic crashes nationwide.  This is significantly higher than the amount of those who die in plane crashes. (https://crashstats.nhtsa.dot.gov/Api/Public/ViewPublication/813283#:~:text=A%20statistical%20projection%20of%20traffic,as%20shown%20in%20Table%201.)

The other popular form of transportation is trains. And the U.S. Department of Transportation reports that "5,800 train-car collisions occur in the country every year. Most of these accidents take place at railroad crossings, leading to 600 deaths and 2,300 injuries." Although less dangerous than cars, this is still more than plane-caused crashes and deaths.(https://www.rosenfeldinjurylawyers.com/train-accident-statistics.html#:~:text=The%20U.S.%20Department%20of%20Transportation,600%20deaths%20and%202%2C300%20injuries.)

Nice work looking at motor vehicle and train data in comparison to air travel data. This helps put multiple modes of transportation in perspective.

For everyone 1 billion drivers, 7.2 people die, where it is 0.07 people for planes, according to mental floss. So yes, it is safer to fly. \

The statement that flying is the safest form of travel is a fact, and there is a lot of data to back this claim up. According to IATA Aviation Safety, "Aviation is the safest form of long-distance transport. In 2018, the all-accident rate (measured in accidents per 1 million flights) was 1.35, which was the equivalent of one accident for every 740,000 flights." The article explains that in order to experience a 100% fatal accident on a plane, a person would have to travel by air every day for 16,581 years. This data ultimately proves that flying is significantly safer than any alternative form of transportation.

It is true that statistically speaking, the safest way to travel is by aircraft. According to the Law Office of Jeffrey A. Jones, "airplane accidents are only responsible for .006 deaths per billion miles of travel. Most plane crashes involve privately-owned aircraft."

The University of Southern California conducted a study relating to flight and the misconception about its danger. Flight is actually extremely safe by comparison to driving and other forms of travel. "Today, according to the Dutch aviation consulting firm To70, commercial passenger jets see just one fatal accident for every 16 million flights. To put that in perspective, for every 1 billion passenger miles traveled by car, 7.2 people die; by plane, it's 0.07 people."

So yes, through various safety protocols, advanced training, and extensive testing of airplanes, flight is an extremely safe way to travel, even more so than driving.

Although there are many people who are not a huge fan, or are even terrified of getting on an airplane, it has been proven to be and continues to be the safest form of travel. Even thought being miles high in the sky seems like a very scary concept, flying on an airplane has statistically been proven to be the safest form of travel. According to Travel Leisure, "you only have a 1 in 9,821 chance of dying from an air and space transport incident, flying is actually one of the safest forms of transportation." The article also tells us that when accidents happen on airplanes, or in the air they gain so much attention from the public and are covered by the media so heavily that it causes people to become afraid of flying. So even though air accidents are given so much attention to make then seem prevalent and scary, traveling in an airplane versus cars, bikes, boats, trains, etc. is the safest way to get from place to place.

Flying is considered to be the safest way to travel because according to the website Sheffield, flight crews, dispatchers, and air traffic control work together and make sure that everyone has a successful flight. There is also a lot of training conducted to be a pilot. The technology used to fly is also very safe. If you want to read more about the safety of flying here is the website you can check out.

It is true, even though air clash could be fatal, but the chance encounter them are very little. According to USC Veterbi:

"Today, according to the Dutch aviation consulting firm To70, commercial passenger jets see just one fatal accident for every 16 million flights. To put that in perspective, for every 1 billion passenger miles traveled by car, 7.2 people die; by plane, it’s 0.07 people."

compare to other transportation, plane is very safe.

Yes, airplanes are the safest form of travel because of the sheer amount of technology and engineering that goes into making and flying one. There are many checks and balances that happen between the flight crew and pilot to ensure that all regulations are carefully followed. Not only that, but obtaining a pilot license is much more rigorous than that of a drivers license.  Plane seats are even fireproof and can withstand 16 times gravity's force. Airplanes are extremely safe and have many more regulations than cars, combined with the fact that a car is more likely to collide with something on the road than a plane is with something in the air.

Yes, flying is the safest form of travel.  According to mental floss, "...for every 1 billion passenger miles traveled by car, 7.2 people die; by plane, it's 0.07 people."  This shows the drastic difference in safety between car transportation and plane trasnportation.  On top of that an MIT study," ...finds that between 2008 and 2017, airline passenger fatalities fell significantly compared to the previous decade, as measured per individual passenger boardings."  This combines with the previous fact to prove that airline travel is not only the safest mode of transport, but that it also is safer than it has ever been before.
