This article is from 1999, so it's hard to gauge if it applies to today. However, this claim is an opinion and cannot be verified as being true or not.

Whether this is true or not, this is a difficult claim to fact check. It is a very opinionated claim that a lot of people would disagree with.

I feel that this claim itself is not really factcheck worthy since it is subjective. They may be facts used to support the claim but it is not a case where someone is misrepresenting or misreporting facts themselves.
