A Russian fighter jet had an "accidental discharge" of its payload over the Russian city of Belgorod on Thursday, according to Russia's Defense Ministry, causing injuries and damaging buildings. Russia is taking responsibility and says their own air force bombed its own city near Ukraine.

According to Russian official media, a "emergency release of an air ordnance" from a Russian warplane was what caused a significant explosion near the Russian city of Belgorod, which is not far from the Ukrainian border.

This post makes it seem like it was purposeful but this explosion was on accident.

The claim doesn't say whether the bombing was intentional or not. So without that nuance included within the claim, wouldn't it be true based on your research/video via CNN?

According to a report by AP News, Russia's air force accidentally bombed its own city of Belgorod during a training exercise in 2022. The incident reportedly occurred when a bomber jet accidentally dropped several bombs over the city, causing damage to residential areas and injuring at least one person.

The incident highlights the potential dangers and risks associated with military training exercises, particularly those involving live ammunition or explosives. It also raises questions about the level of training and preparation among Russian military personnel, and the extent to which they prioritize the safety and well-being of civilians.

According to this source, the bombing was on accident and was not donee with political purposes.

According to Politico, Russia did accidentally discharge a weapon which ended up exploding in one of Russia's cities close to the Ukranian border. According to Politico, some people were hurt but their injuries are not life threatening.

Based on the article, there seems to have been no intention to bomb Ukraine. I would be highly skeptical of those claims, however, the the bombing of their own city was not intentional.
