Voa News has commented on the "long waits," stating that there are 28,000 people in Columbia who have applied to new "safe mobility offices." The video in the Voa News article also states that these centers do not offer quick travel, so it's not designed for those in need of urgent movement. These centers are often turning people to applying as a refugee, which is a lengthy process often taking years. The program is for helping people learn about their options, not actually getting them into the country.

I was not able to confirm or deny that no one has been granted legal asylum, but it seems that the NBC article might have the wrong idea about what these centers are actually doing.

It is interesting that you believe NBC News may not fully understand the point of the processing centers.
