While most would assume that the entirety of Iran supports the Iranian government, there was a report done in 2023 (Iran International Newsroom) that revealed 80% of Iranian citizens reject their government and would prefer a more democratic one. Even the US Department of State understands that "the regime's greatest victims are the Iranian people." (USDS)

Why did you use the website from the U.S. Department of State website as a source for this claim? I understand that you are trying to further your original point, but I think it would be more helpful for people if you cited more sources on how the Iranian people feel about their government rather than how the United States views their regime.

Why did you choose "no available information" when you have sources that show there is support of the Iranian government by the people (20%)? Also, I wonder if it is accurate to say that there is an assumption that the entirety of Iran supports the government when there have been multiple, massive protests against the government over the last few years: https://edition.cnn.com/2023/09/17/middleeast/iran-protests-mahsa-amini-anniversary-intl-hnk/index.html.

According to Iran International, who has twice been nominated for International Channel of the Year by the Association for International Broadcasting, a study by the Netherlands-based GAMAAN institute has shown that 81% of Iranian citizens voted against the Islamic Republic which currently governs Iran in an opinion survey. 80% also supported the public protests against the government that had been happening since mid-September of 2022. Responders supported the idea of a solidarity counsel comprised of leading activists at 85% and, somewhat surprisingly, 73% of responders looked favorably to Western intervention in defending the rights of protesters, putting pressure on Tehran from the outside. However it is important to note that Iran is not always the most accessible country for reliable public opinion so GAMAAN had to use a special online tool to access diverse respondents, going off the idea that "conventional survey methods cannot yield valid results in the existing Iranian context." To check their data, they ran reliability comparisons with other surveys and data.
