With the original content creator being a doctor and a professional in the field being discussed, this doesn't have to mean that energy drinks are the direct cause of heart problems among all people. Everyone's anatomy varies and in addition to the claim made by Medical News Today (https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/energy-drink-heart-attack#outlook) and their outlook on the claim, a person's risk varies when they consume these drinks and could cause the heart and body to react differing ways. Yes, energy drinks may further the damage of a heart to a person but it doesn't have to be the leading/direct cause; it could just be a potential factor.

This claim is false. according to the Mayo Clinic “The healthy heart can handle these chemicals just fine- in moderation of course.” Although energy drink by themselves won’t cause cardiac arrest doctors warn against them in large quantities as they can be apart of a “perfect storm” within people with genetic heart conditions.

This claim states that energy drinks “will lead to heart failure” and that they “should be avoided at all costs.” The information provided in the linked TikTok is somewhat inaccurate because it exaggerates the health risks by saying that each energy drink “causes” rather than “can cause” heart disease. While energy drinks can cause heart failure, it doesn’t necessarily mean they will, therefore this claim is misleading but not entirely false. Energy drinks have been known to have some health side-effects due to their high caffeine content. These include increased heart rate and high blood pressure which can ultimately lead to heart failure. UC Davis Health says, “The combination of high caffeine and other stimulants in energy drinks can lead to increased heart rate and blood pressure, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Both of these are risk factors for heart disease.” However, for healthy individuals energy drinks aren’t known to cause heart health when consumed occasionally. Piedmont Healthcare states, “People who are young and otherwise healthy who drink energy drinks in moderation - meaning no more than one drink a day - won’t experience long-term health issues due to energy drinks.”

I've had prior knowledge to the health risks of energy drinks before todays research on if the drinks lead to heart issues. I clicked on a link to a TikTok that was very informative and listed what the contents were and each chemical that were in a variety of drinks. To which the video then informed the viewer of healthy alternatives that have the same effect as energy drinks. This resource had no bias. It was strictly stating the facts of the contents. Energy drinks are prone to causing damage to your body. Caffeine has both beneficial aspects and negative aspects that are important to be aware of. In conclusion, this claim is true.
