The Eugene Police Department (EPD) tells us that they arrested Daylen Amir Austin, 19, at 11:45 p.m. on April 15th, and has initially been charged with Felony Hit and Run.

Daylen Austin was in fact arrested on Monday in connection to a hit and run according to an article I found by ESPN. This claim is true. There was serval articles I found that talks about Daylen Austins felony charge. According to an ESPN and ABC News article, Austin may serve 5 years in prison for the hit- and-run that happened Monday night, April 15th around 9 p.m.

In a Police Statement, EPD says "This is a complex investigation and EPD is still gathering information to be submitted to the Lane County District Attorney's Office for a final charging decision."

"We are aware of the incident and are awaiting additional information," a spokesperson from the University said in a statement.

This is true. I fact checked it with an Oregon Live article and made sure to check specific times, names, and locations. Everything was the same and both articles were fairly brief. The article explained what the crime was and what the penalty is. The Oregon Live article included that the hit and run was fatal but the KATU 2 article did not. The article is the bare bones but to me that makes it more believable.

Daylen Austin is a redshirt freshman at the University of Oregon who was preparing for his second season of football. He is a defensive back and was ESPN's no. 142 ranked player in the class of 2023. Sources say he hit and killed a 46 year-old man around 9:10pm, roughly 2 miles from campus.
