This appears to be true information. Other sources are reporting on this such as  Forbes and ABC news and the original post cites the US Department of State. The reporting is accurate on how much time exactly wait-time has been cut down as well. ‹

I believe this statement is correct. I have done some other research on this topic and found a few other articles that mentioned the same idea.

https://www.forbes.com/sites/suzannerowankelleher/2024/10/04/us-passport-wait-times-historically-short/ mentioned in their article that the U.S. State Department’s Bureau of Consular announced the average processing time has dropped to four- six weeks. It was previously much higher.

This seems to be correct. The US Department of State website stated that the wait time is 4-6 weeks to retrieve a passport. They also allowed Americans the ability to renew their passport online, cutting wait times as well. Multiple sources including ABC News and Forbes have shown that the process of getting a passport is 4-6 weeks when the wait time was previously 6-8 weeks.
