The claim from this post comes from a tweet from ESPN analyst Mike Clay, which leads me to believe that this is true. The only reason this is brought up though, is because many analysts think Cooper is seeking a trade from Cleveland and this statistic proves that he does not have a quarterback that allows him to be productive. Looking into how realistic an Amari Cooper trade is, I did see that Cooper said that he's "not thinking about that" in regards to being traded. The trade deadline is rapidly approaching, meaning that if a transaction were to occur involving, Cooper, it would need to happen sooner rather than later.

Thanks for the reply. I agree that this stat most likely appeared because it does provide a reason for his possibly wanting a trade but I think that it also offers an explanation for what is projecting to be a slightly down year for Cooper. The media is usually critical of team's number one receivers if their offense isn't performing well and I think that this stat could provide a case for it not being Cooper's fault. It seems like he's open but nearly half of his targets just can't be caught. Perhaps it means that an even more serious look should be taken at Deshaun Watson's play and maybe consider a quarterback change.
