I agree that this stat most likely appeared because it does provide a reason for his possibly wanting a trade but I think that it also offers an explanation for what is projecting to be a slightly down year for Cooper. The media is usually critical of team's number one receivers if their offense isn't performing well and I think that this stat could provide a case for it not being Cooper's fault. It seems like he's open but nearly half of his targets just can't be caught. Perhaps it means that an even more serious look should be taken at Deshaun Watson's play and maybe consider a quarterback change.
