A letter allegedly written by Erik Menendez sent to his cousin Andy Cano 8 months before the killings of Jose and Kitty Menendez is shown in the Fox News article, but nowhere in the article or others similar that I could find made the claim that LA County DA George Cascon released this bombshell news on his social media. I could not find any evidence to back the claim that Cascon released this evidence on his social media, however, there was "A letter related to the Menendez Brothers case was released... over the weekend," so that part of this claim is very true.

This claim is true because I found the Instagram account of Geoge Gascon, the LA County DA, who released a picture of the letter which he claims may be used as evidence. The letter appears to be very real.

Yes, it's true. Several sites have covered it, including Fox, CNN, and New York Post. I tried looking for the post itself on George Gascón's Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/gasconforlada), Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/DAGeorgeGascon/), and Twitter (https://x.com/dagasconrecall) but did not find it. NYP stated:

"DA George Gascón on Sunday posted — but later deleted — a screenshot of the letter Erik Menendez had written to his cousin more than three decades ago alleging he’d been abused by his father, CNN reported." (https://nypost.com/2024/10/16/us-news/la-da-shares-then-quickly-deletes-bombshell-note-written-by-erik-menendez-that-may-prove-dad-sexually-abused-brothers/)

This confirms that the screenshot was deleted, for one reason or another, but that it was indeed posted on his social media. As for the letter itself, it was allegedly written by Erik Menendez to his cousin Andy Cano. I would say that the DA is a pretty good source for this information and this letter does appear to be authentic.
