Multiple major news outlets reported Trump had met with Putin following the election and asked him to not further escalate the war on Ukraine. They discussed having a goal of peace in Europe and Trump reminded Putin of the U.S. military presence in Europe. Trump's team would not confirm or deny this claim.

I found the same claim from the Washington post. Even though the original claim is from fox news, I found it at https://www.washingtonpost.com/national-security/2024/11/10/trump-putin-phone-call-ukraine/ and https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2024/nov/10/trump-putin-ukraine-war

President-elect Donald Trump has not physically met with Vladimir Putin following the election, however, according to multiple sources familiar with the matter, the two had a phone conversation where Trump advised Putin to avoid escalating the war in Ukraine. Trump also mentioned hopes to have more conversations with Putin in the future.

I like that your comment is clarifying for readers and explains the confusion created when differentiating physically meeting up versus talking over the phone. The last sentence is critical to understanding that this is a developing situation.
