This article is accurate. According to the FEC, Elon Musk has given at least $132 million directly to the Trump campaign and millions more to other assorted Republicans.

I definitely think that these are great sources too choose from though I feel like it would be difficult to measure ones political influence. However the aljazeera article does a good job explaining why, how, and the effects of it.
