Kendrick Lamar's hit song, "Not Like Us" is the song of the year. Unfortunately for Drake this has disrupted his entire career. Drake has recently filed a lawsuit against Universal music group. Drake claims that "UMG defamed him by releasing a song that accuses him of being a pedophile, the lawsuit has only drawn more attention to the track." Since the lawsuit, Kendrick Lamar's streams have been up 20% on Apple Music and Spotify. " ...the surge in popularity of Kendrick Lamar’s songs and the backlash against Drake’s legal strategy highlights the unpredictable nature of the music industry’s legal and promotional battles." Though Drake has filled the lawsuit, his reputation is at risk.

The source you used contains a mix of facts and speculative claims. While Kendrick Lamar's song is indeed highly successful, and Drake has filed a lawsuit, the impact on Drake's career and reputation is more subjective and less verifiable. Always consider multiple sources and the context when evaluating such claims. As there has continously been public speculation on whether or not Kendrick's music actually ended Drake's career or not.

I wish you would have added some sources for your claims. Specifically when you mentioned that Drake has filed a lawsuit and the public speculation on whether or not Kendrick's music actually ended Drake's career or not. This way you could have separated the facts of the lawsuit from the opinionated interpretation of Drake's reputation. Also do agree with you though on the fact that this claim cannot be answered since it is subjective and opinion-based.

This is a very straight forward fact check that gives just enough information to support that the claim is "exaggerated/misleading". Though, in order to improve it I think that you should have added articles in order to back up the claim that Drake's career is over. You also could have directly quoted some articles or pulled out some bits and pieces that support your claim. For example, quoting an article that shows how Kendrick Lamar's song "Not Like Us" has negatively affected Drakes career would he sufficed or an article that talks about Drake filing a lawsuit against Kendrick Lamar. Overall, your fact check that Drake's career is over lacks some bits and pieces that can make it more informational.

Drake did file a defamation lawsuit against Universal Music Group (UMG), claiming that Kendrick Lamar’s hit song “Not Like Us” falsely accused him of being a pedophile and hurt his reputation. This part is true and reported by Courthouse News and The Hollywood Reporter. The song was a huge success, t even won Song of the Year at the 2025 Grammys. However, there’s no reliable proof that Kendrick’s streams went up exactly 20% because of the lawsuit, even though the song did see big streaming gains after its release (HipHopDX). The claim that “Drake’s career is over” or that his “entire career has been disrupted” is not supported by credible evidence—no major outlets have said that his career has ended. While the lawsuit has drawn attention and some criticism toward Drake, there’s no clear sign that his career is finished. Overall, parts of the claim are true (the lawsuit and the song’s success), but others—like the 20% stream increase and his career being over, are exaggerated or false (Courthouse News, Hollywood Reporter, Wikipedia, HipHopDX, The Guardian).

Drake also dropped Some Sexy Songs for you which gained 278 million streams in the first week and featured Hits like "GIMMIE A HUG" which hit billboard top 10 and "NOKIA" which is the best selling song of 2025. Drake also was ranked #2 as the best artists of the 21st century where Kendrick isn't even in the top 10. With this being said there is just no way you could say Drake's career is over.

Though some commentary suggests Drake is no longer at his peak or in “top form,” they stop short of saying his career is finished. For example, one writer said: "All of Drake’s efforts still might not be enough to make the world forget about ‘Not Like Us,’ but it doesn’t mean his career is over, either."

Also, from an outside perspective, “Drake will probably never be done… but his attitude… shows a tired, hurt and unexcited … he is lost in the last decade.” (The Scribe - UCCS student newspaper.) These suggest decline or challenge, not total collapse.

Saying “Drake’s career is over” is exaggerated. He remains a major force, continues to release music, and has a strong legacy. That said, there is an argument that his “peak era” might be behind him. It’s more accurate to say his career is entering a new phase, not that it's ended.
