After reading the article given by the primary comment, I think putting your face in Icy water is good for you as it helps with things like redness, inflammation, and even wrinkles. After studies were made where people got their wrinkles treated with cold water, the results were all positive, and this shows that there is some good that comes from icy water, but like always, we can't forget that going too far and overboard could have adverse effects.

This article from TimesNowNews explains how face icing is good for your skin and has many benefits. The author's main source of evidence is beauty experts who explain why face icing benefits your skin and how it works. I went and did my own research and found this study conducted by PubMed, a much more reliable source than TimeNowNews. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/25654195/, this study found that the people treated for forehead wrinkles using "focused cold therapy" showed satisfaction and improvement with their wrinkles. Another article I found by the Cleveland Clinic further supports the original claim. https://health.clevelandclinic.org/facial-icing. It is essentially the same article but done through a more trusted news source. These articles both align with the main claim proving that the TimesNowNews is indeed correct.

This is a remarkable fact check! TimesNowNews, as you stated, is not a super reliable source, and they used beauty experts to back the claim—good use of backing the claim with multiple reputable sources and cross-referencing one another. Your answer also gives a clear, definite, true or false answer.

I like that you did your own research and used a medically known website. I feel that using these known websites for giving medical advice further proves why this statement is factually correct. These medical websites wouldn't lie as they are known for giving good medical advice. Good job adding these to further prove this fact check. You also did a good job with stating that the articles align with the TImesNowNews article that was given in the statement.

It is true that dipping your face in ice water is beneficial and would be a very good addition to any skincare routine. It can have benefits for getting rid of acne, reducing puffy eyes and redness, reduce signs of aging, like wrinkles, and help with sunburns. All in all, it's an easy and inexpensive way to help your skin be healthier and look better. https://www.healthline.com/health/ice-for-face#why-so-popular

The TimesNowNews article highlights the benefits of face icing, citing beauty experts as evidence. After further digging into the practice, I found an article from the Cleveland Clinic that supports this claim, providing credibility to TimesNowNews' conclusions. This claim is true.

First off, I think having the claim stated as a question leads to a bit of uncertainty in the topic. However, the source you used supports and provides evidence on how dipping your face in ice can benefit your skin. Additionally to your source you included, I did some research on my own and found another source that goes a little more in depth on how ice water can help with puffiness in the eyes and face. The cold water constricts blood vessels, minimizing the appearance of enlarged pores and giving the skin a smoother, more even texture. Going forward, this claim is true, but I would choose a more scholarly article to support this claim.

Love this claim/info! I looked into it and it looks like https://health.clevelandclinic.org/facial-icing the Cleveland Health Clinic has provided some in depth research into why skin icing is beneficial. They detail that skin icing can help reduce inflammation and drain toxins from the skin, which has health and aesthetic benefits because of the tightening look it can create.

Great and factual post!

The claim that dipping your face in ice water is good for you, stems from an article titled, “Dipping Face In Ice Water Can Target Redness And Spots Instantly,” by Labani Mahanandy. The article from Times Now lists all of the many beauty benefits of participating in this viral trend. The author states, “ …cold temperature of the ice causes the skin to contract, which temporarily tightens the appearance of pores and gives your skin a smoother and more refined look” (Mahanandy 1). This is the statement that causes me to question the misleading nature of the claim. Although ice dipping does reduce redness as they state, the direct claim is that it is “good for you.” Much information online steers towards the cosmetic benefits of ice dipping and less towards the genuine health benefits. In an article from the National Institute of Medicine researchers concluded that, “Focused cold therapy seems to be an effective, safe non toxic alternative to popular wrinkle-reducing treatments. (Palmer 1). Although ice dipping does not cause any harm, there is not enough research to state that it is beneficial beyond a cosmetic sense since having large pores or wrinkles is not necessarily unhealthy. Overall the claim is true, but slightly misleading since there is no evidence to ice dipping benefiting health, only heightening one's complexion.

This is a very well done fact check. You do a really good job of assessing the claim right away, and backing up your position with plenty of evidence. It was helpful that you provided quotes from the article as well. Overall this is a very thorough fact check and I have no critiques! Good job!

Dipping your face in cold water is  beneficial. The cold causes your blood vessels to constrict, which helps reduce puffiness and redness. It can also help balance oil production by shrinking your pores, leaving your skin looking refreshed .

Dipping your face in Ice water can have benefits. Cold compresses of any sort have been beneficial in helping reduce swelling, redness, puffiness, and increases circulation. Not only this, but it can also energize the skin, promotes lymphatic drainage and help prevent dark eye circles. So yes it is beneficial. However, can be uncomfortable and bothersome due to the coldness and change of temperature.
