President-elect Donald Trump is the first Republican presidential candidate to win the popular vote in 20 years. Social media users have wrongly claimed that Trump lost the popular vote, but they are confusing the popular vote with a majority of votes. The unofficial results show Trump received slightly less than a majority, but more votes than any candidate.

Yes, this is correct. While there is never a perfect count, AP-- what is often considered the most trustworthy source on the topic-- says Trump did in fact win the popular vote (https://apnews.com/projects/election-results-2024/?office=P) and it also found that Trump was just shy of a majority.

You do cite a valid source but you fail to discuss why it's true, compare the two sources and dissect the claim as well.

Good job with the source but as the other comment says, you got to explain more about the article.

Make sure when you answer the question you label it with a true, false, or otherwise. Also, expand on the source and provide quotes to strengthen your argument.

Good job on finding a solid source, however it seems as though you need to explain your source a bit more and why the source is important as well.

Trump did in fact win the popular vote, but it was a close race. NPR says that "this year's popular-vote margin is the second-closest since 1968." CNN states that Trump won 49.9% of the popular vote, compared to Harris' 48.3%. As the linked FactCheck article explains, the social media users who claim he did not win the popular vote are misunderstanding the way the vote is counted. Even though Trump won less than 50% of the votes, he still received more votes than any other candidate received, making him the official winner of the popular vote.
