The Syrian rebel commander's statement about Israel helping Syria doesn't make sense because it contradicts the idea of opposing Israel and supporting the rebels at the same time.

“Israel will plant a rose in the Syrian garden and will support the Syrian people, for the benefit of the region.” This interview with a Syrian “rebel” commander gives away the game. Anti-Zionism and support for the “rebels” is totally incoherent!

Did a Syrian rebel say he wants Israel to support the uprising?

Fact-checked: Opinion.

The Times of Israel did post an article claiming that they spoke to a Syrian rebel. However, it's not a named source. It is also important to recognize that this is one officer's personal opinion on Israel and Syria, and other involved parties and countries (Iran and Hezbollah). Times of Israel is listed as a biased media outlet on allsides.com that sides with Israel, so it is possible that this is a propaganda piece, rather than factual reporting.
