Numerous national and international scientific organizations have issued statements affirming the reality of human-caused climate change. Organizations across the world concur with this observation such as the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) that provide governments at all levels with scientific information that they can use to develop climate policies. The IPCC fifth assessment report stated, “Human influence on the climate system is clear, and recent anthropogenic emissions of green-house gases are the highest in history.  Warming of the climate system is unequivocal, and since the 1950s, many of the observed changes are unprecedented over decades to millennia.”

Furthermore, you have American Association for the Advancement of Science, The American Geophysical Union (AGU), the American Meteorological Society (AMS), The National Academies of Sciences of major industrialized countries, and many others that research is pointing towards the same thing, the earth is warming and we are having an impact on speeding up that process. They found that “The global average surface temperature reached 1.1°C above 1850-1900 levels in 2011-2020 and has continued to rise.vi The 10 warmest years in the 174-year record have all occurred during the last decade (2014–2023) with 2023 being the warmest year.” It may not seem that much but with ecosystems being easily disrupted impacts to vegetation, crops such as those in China that is mentioned in research by Cook et. al. (2014), animals, and insects in the ecosystem could be devastating which would eventually impact mankind.

Climate change is in fact very real and a pressing issue for the human race. This warming of our climate is due to human behavior that has shifted the climate globally. The climate has always changed but within recent years, warming has been at a constant rate that we have never seen before. With an abundance of CO2 being put into the atmosphere everyday the atmosphere is deteriorating at a fast rate, rapidly increasing the tempature of our planet.

According  to Nasa's scientists:

Takeaways

  • While Earth’s climate has changed throughout its history, the current warming is happening at a rate not seen in the past 10,000 years.
  • According to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), "Since systematic scientific assessments began in the 1970s, the influence of human activity on the warming of the climate system has evolved from theory to established fact."1
  • Scientific information taken from natural sources (such as ice cores, rocks, and tree rings) and from modern equipment (like satellites and instruments) all show the signs of a changing climate.
  • From global temperature rise to melting ice sheets, the evidence of a warming planet abounds.
These points show that a group of leading scientists globally are explaining the facts that present proof of global warming and overall climate change. The fact of warming the atmosphere and the effects of such.

This fact-check uses a great source and pulls directly from the article to validate the claim made by the original poster. The structure of making the claim and pulling evidence from the article is very effective.

This fact-check is perfect. I like how you highlighted the main takeaways from your research. This really helped me with getting a better understanding of climate change as a whole. The information provided about climate change was very informational.

Climate change is in fact very real, and needs to be spoken about more. I found on Nasa that, "The planet's average surface temperature has risen about 2 degrees Fahrenheit (1 degrees Celsius) since the late 19th century, a change driven largely by increased carbon dioxide emissions into the atmosphere and other human activities." This supports the claim that climate change is a real thing that continually affects us each year.

I agree with your answer, but I think another source or two could help to solidify your explanation regardless of the reliability of your source. You could also look into why your source is trustworthy and the original data they reference.

You have a great start here. Your claim is strong and likely credible, however you have no evidence to back it up. By adding a few hyperlinks, you could really strengthen your response.
