In November of 2025, President Donald trump stated that Democrats want to spend 1.5 trillion dollars on healthcare for undocumented immigrants. He has made this claim several times, such as on his October 19th interview with Fox News, his November 2nd interview with 60 minutes, as well as again on November 7th. Democrats have sought expanded health care coverage in some plans, including the affordable care act. Leonardo Cuello of Georgetown University has stated that the claim is "totally false" causing divide between the 2 opinions. The $1.5 trillion figure is real, but it is set to be spent over a course of 10 years with a large majority of the spending not in any way related to Illegal immigrants.

Official analyses of the budget proposals and health care programs have also shown the spending on undocumented immigrants is far lower than 1.5 trillion dollars. It is also stated that the original value of $193 billion is certainly reasonable as it applies to legal immigration and the $1.5 trillion is applied to any type, over a 10 year period.
