Amazon is preparing for one of its most significant corporate job cuts ever, targeting roughly 30,000 jobs. This new restructuring plan is aimed at cutting costs and increasing profitability. The recent increase in AI is also a factor in the job cuts, as Amazon sees many opportunities for AI to take over human jobs, reducing costs. These changes are all for Amazon’s effort to streamline its management system.

This claim is valid because Reuters received information directly from insiders and internal documents that show Amazon’s new job-cutting plan. Multiple anonymous sources confirmed an estimate of 30,000 job cuts, and the timing aligns with Amazon’s cost saving measures, which they publicly announced before the article. The number of layouts matches up with Amazon’s shift in cost priorities, which confirms the claim

I was able to find many sources claiming that Amazon is making a major layoff this year. AP news is claiming that the layoff is going to be about 14,000 workers but on the other hand Reuters is claiming the layoff is going to be 30,000 beginning on tuseday which is about 10% of Amazon's corporate staff. Most of these information came from inside the company, who said Amazon was preparing for a very large reduction of the workers.

Later Amazon confirmed that about 14,000 corporate jobs were going to be eliminated now and the company workers had 90 days to find a new role inside amazon.

Amazon also included a explanation of this layoff. The company claims that they are trying to cut down costs and use AI to make operations more efficient. Many departments such as HR, devices, operations and, Amazon Web services were hit the hardest with this layoff.

In conclusion this claim is partially correct. They are cutting off thousands of jobs but not 30,000. It was officially, around14,000 jobs.

This claim is true. After further research I also came to the conclusion that Amazon was going to be laying off nearly 30,000 employees. This would represent the largest job cut across the tech industry since 2020 according to CNBC. Although Amazon is laying off a lot of employees, the company has yet to comment on the issue including the exact number of layoffs, leaving us questioning why they are deciding to do this. It is reasonable to make the assumption that Amazon is laying off its employees for cost-cutting and restructuring purposes probably due to the introductions of AI in the workplace. Until Amazon provides an official statement, the exact scale and motivation behind the cuts remains uncertain, but the current reports strongly suggest that a lot of people will lose their jobs.
