I was able to find many sources claiming that Amazon is making a major layoff this year. AP news is claiming that the layoff is going to be about 14,000 workers but on the other hand Reuters is claiming the layoff is going to be 30,000 beginning on tuseday which is about 10% of Amazon's corporate staff. Most of these information came from inside the company, who said Amazon was preparing for a very large reduction of the workers.
Later Amazon confirmed that about 14,000 corporate jobs were going to be eliminated now and the company workers had 90 days to find a new role inside amazon.
Amazon also included a explanation of this layoff. The company claims that they are trying to cut down costs and use AI to make operations more efficient. Many departments such as HR, devices, operations and, Amazon Web services were hit the hardest with this layoff.
In conclusion this claim is partially correct. They are cutting off thousands of jobs but not 30,000. It was officially, around14,000 jobs.
