There are talks that Amazon plans to lay off a lot of employees like other companies such as Meta and Twitter. What is the validity of this statement?

I also found that Amazon is planning to lay off 10,000 employees in corporate and technology roles this week. CNBC claims to hear this from both the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal. These layoffs would only account for less than 1% of Amazon employees. Amazon has already announced plans to freeze hiring, so it is not surprise that they would follow other tech firms in layoffs as well.

I also saw that Amazon is laying off 10,000 of its employees. It is interesting to see that Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos is also planning on sending his girlfriend to space in that same time period. Seems hilarious to me. Here's the link below:

This is sadly true. My cousin who was formerly a Amazon delivery driver and he was just laid off due to apparent "shortages in hours." To me that seems like a blanket statement.

When exploring online to see what information I could find to properly fact-check this I came across CNBC and according to their reporters "Amazon reported disappointing third-quarter earnings in October that spooked investors and caused shares to sink more than 13%" and because of that they have begun their process of laying off employees. This sources has been confirmed from report from "The New York Times. Separately, The Wall Street Journal also cited a source saying the company plans to lay off thousands of employees."

Good explanation and sources. I like that you added a personal experience -- your cousin being laid off -- as additional evidence to support your claim.

I have heard this and it is true. The New York Times also confirmed it was true as well as this article I have pasted down below. The plan to lay off workers from corporate and tech roles.

I also found a source, specifically NPR that stated Amazon is laying off 10,000 employees and even from some other big companies like Meta. There seems to be a trend that is occurring with these renown companies.
