Parents.com reached out to Clearblue, a leading company of pregnancy monitors. The company was aware of the rumors circulating social media claiming there were plan b pills inside the Clearblue pregnancy tests. Their response is quote, "Clearblue went on to note: "Clearblue pregnancy tests do NOT contain Plan B pills. All our tests have a small desiccant tablet which is included to absorb moisture and should not be eaten. If accidentally ingested we ask people to please seek medical advice and for any further questions contact our careline at 1-800-321-3279." Additionally the have a similar statement now published on their website, which you can find here, https://www.clearblue.com/pregnancy-tests

All in all, these pills sometimes found in pregnancy tests are NOT plan b pills, and should especially not be consumed. This information comes from https://www.parents.com/parenting/relationships/postpartum-birth-control/psa-that-is-not-a-plan-b-pill-inside-your-pregnancy-test/

This was a social media trend for a while, where people claimed pregnancy tests had a hidden Plan B. "Emergency contraception is not included in pregnancy tests. Plan B (which costs $50) and generic versions of the morning-after pill (which run anywhere from $15-45) are available over-the-counter at most drugstores and pharmacies. You can buy it regardless of your age or gender."

Nice job determining that the claim is false. Going forward, it would be great to provide a personal explanation rather than copy and paste some information (it's certainly valuable to add direct quotes, but they need context and explaining).

This claim, made popular by recent TikTok videos, is false. Pregnancy tests do not contain a hidden Plan B pill. An article by AFP Fact Check includes a video that is captioned "Bet y’all didn’t know there was a plan b pill inside a pregnancy test". This video has been shared over 18,000 times since it has been posted. In addition, the article displays a 2019 tweet by Clearblue that says, "We are aware of videos about Clearblue pregnancy tests and the tablet inside. Clearblue tests do NOT contain Plan B. All our tests contain a desiccant tablet to absorb moisture and should not be eaten. If accidentally ingested, seek medical advice. Questions? 1800-321-3279".

With social media at its peak, trends and information are spread quicker than ever before. One trend and rumor that was spread early last year was when you buy pregnancy test it includes a "plan b" or a "morning after pill" inside. People began to assume that the small tablet they found inside their pregnancy test was indeed a "morning after pill" that you could take to prevent pregnancy. But website, Parents.comdebunk this rumor by saying the "[pregnancy test] don't include anything else above and beyond a standard kit to test your urine - and definitely not a morning-after pill." And, the tablet like pill found inside your average test it really is a, "small desiccant tablet which is included to absorb moisture and should not be eaten" explained by pregnancy test company, Clearblue, and reported by Parents.com.

So, in conclusion although there is a tablet that is placed inside a pregnancy test it is not a "plan b" or anything you can consume to help with pregnancy, it was a rumor made up by social media platforms.

This claim is false, pregnancy tests do NOT include a "hidden plan b pill". After looking into the clear blue website there is a box of information in regards to the small pill inside pregnancy tests, and it states that the pill is not a plan b pill but a desiccant tablet. Doing further research a desiccant tablet "The main purpose of this unit desiccant is to remove moisture from the top area of container or bottle during the time of tablets packaging", so when a desiccant tablet is placed inside the pregnancy test it helps absorb the moisture of the urine.

Though the tablet in the pregnancy test looks similar to the actual plan b pill (as seen on the image of the box of the pill on the official plan b website) it is not the same thing.

A couple of videos that had gone viral on tik tok led to the release of a statement from Clearblue which contains vital information about the tablet in the test.

"We are aware of videos circulating about Clearblue pregnancy tests and the tablet found inside. Clearblue pregnancy tests do NOT contain Plan B." Clearblue said.

They go one to explain that "All our tests contain a small desiccant tablet which is included to absorb moisture and should not be eaten." (Link to Clearblue statement)

Confirming that it indeed is not a Plan B pill. For more information about what a desiccant tablet is, this is a link to a company that manufactures these tablets (Link)

A dangerous trend on on TikTok has caused viewers to ingest a tablet found on the inside of pregnancy tests assuming they are plan B. As stated by FactCheck.org "Pregnancy tests contain a desiccant table to absorb moisture and keep the test dry before use".  It should be made clear by pregnancy test companies that the pill shaped tablet is not meant for ingestion.

This source is from a random person on Facebook without any medical credentials and they don't work for the pregnancy test or plan b distributors. Snopes confirmed that this is fake and you absolutely shouldn't eat any part of a pregnancy test.
