This claim is true. Here is another report by CBS about these specific robberies. It states that "in each incident, the victims were walking on their way to work when a gray Kia SUV pulled up and three to four armed men got out and demanded the victim's belongings." These events follow a recent uptick in robberies in the city as earlier in the month Chicago witnessed a 'string of recent armed robberies' in the West side.

According to this police report, when comparing the weeks of April 24 through the 30th from this year and last year there has been a 70% increase in reported robberies. While it's unclear whether or not this trend will continue for the rest of the year, it's best to be careful if one finds themself in the city's West side.

Great job explaining the details of the article and using a quote to support your answer. I liked how you included a police report comparing the crime rates from last year to this year. Quick question though, where did you find that police report? The link opened up to a PDF instead of a website so I think it would be beneficial to add a link of how to obtained that document.

You're absolutely right! The evidence presented by CBS and the police report clearly shows that there has been a significant increase in reported robberies in the city, particularly on the West side. The safety of residents and workers is paramount, and it's essential to remain cautious in such areas. Your diligent research and contribution to raising awareness about these incidents are commendable. By sharing this information, you are helping others stay informed and vigilant, which is crucial for the well-being of the community.

This claim appears to be true as multiple sources from April-June 2023 are mentioning this trend. WGN TV reports that nine armed robberies occurred within an hour on the city’s northwest side overnight on May 21. NBC Chicago reports a string of 50 armed robberies on the Southwest, West and Northwest Sides of Chicago, which police believe were committed by the same suspects. These robberies span April-May 2023. CBS says that about 60 armed robberies on the North, West and Northwest sides of Chicago occurred during May-June 2023.
