Trump said, as president, he'd force every pregnant woman to submit to constant government monitoring to ensure she's doing nothing to endanger her fetus or terminate her pregnancy.

This is not true. This references a times interview where trump said he would allow red states to monitor presidency. This was after making the claim that he would allow the states to make legislation on abortion. There is no quote stating that he would monitor every pregnant woman, only that he would allow states that banned abortion to monitor pregnancy.

The article says Trump would let the red states monitor women's pregnancies if they wish, but it would be the choices of the states themselves, certainly not forced by Trump.

The article says, “ He would let red states monitor women’s pregnancies and prosecute those who violate abortion bans.” the word force was not used anywhere in the article. He also said that he’s not going to encourage this behavior because the states can do what they want. This claim was exaggerated.

This is a False claim: Trump said he'd force government monitoring on pregnant women

Our rating: False

Trump told Time magazine that potential abortion policies, including monitoring women’s pregnancies, should be left up to states to decide. He didn't push for monitoring or even say whether he was for or against the concept.

This was is a false claim. I plugged the same headline into google and saw multiple headlines that reported this was a false claim. USA Today reported that this false claim originated from a democratic facebook group. This news got spread on twitter which led to the false claim. According to USA Today it got shared over 2,500 times. What Trump originally said was that he thinks monitoring on abortion should be left up to individual states. He did discuss abortion and pregnancy, but did not make these claims.

According to the article, Trump would allow red states to monitor pregnancies. So, this headline isn't entirely false, but it wouldn't be a nationwide law enforced by Trump himself.

This article doesn't explicitly state that Trump would force government monitoring on women's bodies. Instead, he does say that he would leave it up to the states, allowing them to govern and police women's bodies. He also implies that he wouldn't have to make any vetoing decisions on the matter because he feels Congress won't ever let it proceed all the way up to him.

This is false, as it has been twisted in a malicious way. Trump did not explicitly say that he would force pregnant women into constant government monitoring. Trump did however explain that he would not prevent states from establishing systems and legislation to monitor people's pregnancies.

The claim that Trump wants the federal government to monitor pregnant women is false. In a 2024 Time interview he said it would be up to the individual states to make decisions on whether to track pregnancies to enforce the abortion bans. He didn't say he supported it but that states might do it. He then later on denied these claims during a rally. Trump called them lies and said he didn't want to monitor pregnancies.
