"Sabrina Carpenter and Barry Keoghan have gone their separate ways.

A source confirms to PEOPLE that the pair have ended their romantic relationship for now, about a year after they began dating.

"They are both young and career-focused, so they've decided to take a break," says the insider of Keoghan, 32, and Carpenter, 25.

Reps for both stars did not immediately respond to PEOPLE's requests for comment on Tuesday, Dec. 3."

You might want to add more sources than just People.com, which is a known outlet for celebrity gossip. By finding more sources on the issue, you can further solidify your argument.

Many credible sources within the music industry, such as People Magazine, Fox News, and Cosmopolitan, have written articles claiming that a "source" has confirmed Keoghan and Carpenter's breakup. Several sources, including this article, have indicated that Barry Keoghan's alleged infidelity with influencer Breckie Hill was a primary reason for the couple's breakup. This rumor appeared to gain momentum when Carpenter was photographed on December 5 in a Cruella de Vil outfit, which many referred to as a post-breakup "revenge dress".

However, neither Keoghan nor Carpenter (as of December 6th) has publicly confirmed their split yet. Thus, this piece of news remains a rumor.

This claim does not appear to be credible. Despite "sources" claiming to confirm the end of the relationship, Keoghan recently released a statement following the backlash he was receiving following the rumors. Here is a link to the statement he released on 'X'. Although he does not explicitly state that they are still together, he does reference "lies" being spread.

The claim appears to just comment on recent speculation that Sabrina Carpenter and Barry Keoghan broke up as neither of them have confirmed the rumors. Further, the rumor gained a lot of its traction when it was rumored that Keoghan cheated on Carpenter with influencer Breckie Hill, but PEOPLE they same source you quoted as evidence reported that on her recent TikTok video where she addresses the allegations and vehemently denies that she cheated with Keoghan, furthering that this is all just unconfirmed celebrity gossip.

While PEOPLE magazine did report that a "source" confirmed that Sabrina Carpenter and Barry Keoghan had broken up, neither of the celebrities has publicly acknowledged the split or reasoning why. This article seems like it relies heavily on an anonymous insider, which shows its weak credibility. BuzzFeed News reported that there is no evidence to support the cheating rumors that were fueling that breakup story. PEOPLE also published an article where Breckie Hill directly denied ever meeting Barry or being involved in the situation. LaineyGossip showed a good example of tracing back to the original context and exploring how TikTok speculation contributed to the spread of all of this unverified information. Overall, this story is definitely based on social media rumors and anonymous sources, rather than confirmed facts. I find this claim misleading as there is no credible evidence to support that Sabrina Carpenter broke up with Barry Keoghan due to cheating allegations.

I completely agree with your claim and I think you did a really good job at pointing out that even a big outlet like “PEOPLE” can post things without any evidence. I thought it was smart to include the part where Breckie Hill said she never even met Barry. That really shows how fake the rumors were. I also liked how BuzzFeed cleared things up by saying there’s no proof of cheating. It sucks that celebrities can get dragged into drama just because people are guessing things online. This shows how we have to be careful about believing everything we see on social media.

I agree with your claim and really liked how you answered. It's important that you pointed out that rather than posting confirmed facts, PEOPLE most likely created the post using "speculation" and "unverified information". The anonymous insider, while good to protect their privacy, it does add a layer of suspicion to their words. Rather than tagging the claim as completely false, I agree that the misleading label is more accurate about the claim.
