According to the article referred to by Fox News, Alpha News, and screenshots were taken off of the Facebook post, Minnesota Rep. Heather Keeler said, "I’m sick of white Christians adopting our babies and rejoicing. It’s a really sad day when that happens. It means the genocide continues. If you care about our babies, advocate against the genocide! Help the actual issues impacting Indigenous parents, stop stealing our babies and changing their names under the impression that you are helping. White saviors are the worst!".

I feel that this proves that this claim is true. Although it doesn't share the whole story, which Fox and Alpha News described as "political", Keeler did say the quote mentioned in the claim above.

When digging for more information, don't forge to consider the quality of your sources. I discovered fairly quickly that Alpha News might not be a reliable source of information: https://abetterminnesota.org/2022/02/the-truth-about-alpha-news/. The website mentions the following: While they might have “news” in their name, Alpha News is anything but. It’s a shady, right-wing propaganda machine. The organization pushes conservatives’ harmful agenda with clickbait headlines, alarmist lies, and zero journalistic integrity.

Are there reputable sources that reported on the legislator's remarks?

This claim is true. Source from NY Breaking (https://nybreaking.com/minnesota-lawmaker-tells-white-christians-to-stop-adopting-native-american-babies/)

When researching, I discovered many blogs that used this figure of speech to portray more negative narratives, regardless of whether or not that is what the Minnesota legislator meant; this claim is only a piece of what she said. Here is the full gist:

"I’m sick of white Christians adopting our babies and rejoicing," Minnesota State Rep. Heather Keeler posted on her personal Facebook page recently, according to Alpha News.

"It’s a really sad day when that happens. It means the genocide continues.

"If you care about our babies, advocate against the genocide," the post continued. "Help the actual issues impacting indigenous parents, stop stealing our babies and changing their names under the impression you are helping. White saviors are the worst!"

There appears to have been a greater significance to her message that she was expressing to bring awareness to a deeper issue, but it was not well received with only that piece of her delivery being mentioned.

Is Keeler's Facebook profile public? Did you check to see that she made that comment about adoption? It would be a good first step to verify the information since Alpha News is not a good source. I'm also not sure about NY Breaking being a reputable source. Did you check?

Update: I found this https://www.facebook.com/RepKeeler/posts/pfbid02mgSuXsMfjqNTbMvYegzRhXTGTeMHAtnrp4MXo8bLaVBKZwYFiYFYWFpns6u9BbfJl

Her profile: https://www.facebook.com/RepKeeler

I don't see the "I'm sick of white Christians adopting our babies..." quote within her profile.
