USA Today states Donald Trump was arrested Tuesday shortly after he stated on Twitter that he was going to be. This is the first time in the U.S. history that a former president has been arrested. Photos of him being arrested have also circulated the internet.

What I have found from multiple articles and news sites is that Trump was officially indicted by a grand jury in New York on felony charges.

The LA Times says, "Trump was arraigned in a New York state court Tuesday on 34 felony charges stemming from payments his attorney made shortly before the 2016 election to a porn actor who said she’d had an affair with Trump. He pleaded not guilty to all charges."

Because he was officially arraigned and indicted by a grand jury, that means that he had to be placed under arrest. This is all explained by the article I linked from TF Law, explaining the entire process.

I also found an official statement from CNN that says, "Trump surrendered and was placed under arrest Tuesday before he was arraigned in a historic and unprecedented court appearance, in which the former president heard the charges against him for the first time."

There is still no mugshot or any sort of similar records released, but still he was arrested as part of the process. It is possible that those will be released later sometime soon.

This information means that the claim is true

It is true that Donald Trump was arrested but not in public but rather arraigned a deal with the court where he would come into the court at a certain time. After being arrested he pled not guilty to 34 charges. According to MSN "the arraignment of Donald Trump—scheduled to take place at 2:15 p.m. ET on Tuesday in New York's Supreme Court—is set to be an astonishing sight: the first time a former president will be charged with a criminal indictment." While he did get arrested he was freed since he pled not guilty to the charges.

Yes, Donald Trump was arrested for 34 felony counts of falsifying business records that were known as 'hush money payments' while he was campaigning for his 2016 presidency. Trump pleaded not guilty, even though there is evidence and business records that show Trump under going criminal acts and conduct that he hid from the public.

There has been tons and tons of news surrounding Donald Trump and his "arrest". It has become hard to tell what is real and fake, especially with AI images of him being arrested circulating. Upon some research, I found that he was indicted Tuesday, which means that he was formally charged. He was charged with 34 federal counts of falsifying business records. Trump is the first ever president to be indicted. According to the charging documents, the falsification surrounds a 130,000 dollar payment to an adult film star, which was used as "hush money". Trump is obviously not happy about this situation, saying it is "an insult to our country". His next court date will be on December 4. Until then, there will be extensive reviews of all information surrounding the case. Many wonder how this will impact his plans to run in the 2024 election.

Yes, Donald Trump was arrested on Tuesday, April 4th on 34 counts of falsifying business records to conceal unlawful and damaging activity before his first election in 2016. This case was centered around Trumps hush-money payments of $130,000 to adult film star Stormy Daniels. There were similar instances uncovered more recently. Attorney Alvin Bragg said "The evidence will show that he did so to cover up crimes relating to the 2016 election."

The claim that Trump was arrested is a bit misleading. Arrest means to take someone into custody, and we usually think of it as police officers handcuffing someone into the back of a police vehicle. There were images circulating online of this happening to Trump, but those are fake, AI-generated photos, according to Forbes and other sites. However, what did happen was that Trump was arraigned, which means brought into court and formally charged, in this case with 34 felony counts related to falsifying business records to cover up other crimes. He was indicted, which means the case will go to trial, but he is pleading not guilty to the charges. So the news that he was arrested, while not entirely untrue, is somewhat misleading.

According to USA Today, Trump was arrested. They used this same wording. "For the first time in U.S. history, a former president surrendered to law enforcement and was placed under arrest."

The claim that Donald Trump was arrested is true. The article by USA Today discusses how Donald Trump was arrested on 34 counts of felonies for for falsifying New York business records through a "catch and kill" scheme designed to conceal damaging information and unlawful activity before the 2016 election." According to this source, falsifying business records is abasing the law in New York City. Additionally, other news sources are discussing the matter as well. Just by looking up Donald Trump, dozens of news sources like NBC, Fox News, and ABC News have posted articles regarding Trumps arrest. All of this has lead me to believe that the claim that Donald Trump was arrested is true.

This statement is true. From NBC News (https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/donald-trump/trump-news-arrested-updated-new-york-court-rcna77707)

I found the answer in an article by Dareh Gregorian and Adam Reiss in an article by NBC News.  This article was fact-checked.  Former President Donald Trump was arrested on Tuesday, April 4th after he plead not guilty to 34 felony charges in court.

DAREH GREGORIAN & ADAM REISS (NBC) - Trump arrived at the courthouse at 100 Centre St. in lower Manhattan in a presidential-style motorcade from Trump Tower in midtown, where he’d stayed overnight. He was informed he was under arrest, fingerprinted and processed ahead of his arraignment.

This is true. CNN reports that former President Trump was indicted leading to him being "arrested and pleading not guilty in Manhattan." The indictment is in regard to President Trump possibly paying hush money to Stormy Daniels during his 2016 presidential campaign. Former President Trump has continued to deny any wrongdoing in this case.

This claim is true. This is ongoing legal case taking place in New York. As writers for Rolling Stone state:

"DONALD TRUMP MADE history over and over on Tuesday afternoon. The first president ever indicted became the first to be arrested, the first arraigned, and the first to plead not guilty to 34 separate felony counts of falsifying business records in a Manhattan courtroom."

Since this is still a developing story more is to be said.
