Bullshit I have seen it with my own eyes, liberal fucktards can't admit that blacks commit these crimes ( go look at the rape rates and crime stats ) 95% are done by blacks in SA. Yup and that's with a corrupt black government.

This claim and response/explanation is extremely exaggerated, biased, and honestly just foul, but that's besides the point. I think that this claim is based off racial stereotypes from a clearly highly opinionated standpoint. When looking at crime and rape rates in South Africa  we want to look at data and evidence rather than opinion and prejudices. According to the NCJRS virtual library, racial and income factors play a part in deciding the average highest crime rates in South Africa. NCJRS quotes that, "Colored and African peoples who do not enjoy high standards of living have the highest crime rates." Notice the emphasis on how mainly people who are negatively impacted by poverty commit the most crimes. Meaning that this problem is mainly linked to socioeconomic status and not just race. This fact is true in many cases, that people living in poverty in industrial countries are more likely to commit crimes. I think that this claim creates harmful racists prejudices against people of color and suggests that all people of color are criminals and rapists which is so far from the truth.

I really like how you pointed out that this claim is stereotypical and biased based on society. Not only that, but you also provide evidence as to why this claim is not true and then continued to explain that that this is a socially structured claim and bias. Thank you for addressing how harmful this claim is.

This is a great fact check supported by evidence of harmful racial biases. Although you outline the clear racism and exagerated biases in the original claim, you also provide sources that debunk the claim. Claims like this one are extremely harmful to these communities by pushing stereotypes onto them.

I thought this was a very well done response. It points out the false nature of this claim while also talking about why claims like this exists using credible sources. Addressing claims like these is very important to society and your comment was a very good example of this.

I appreciate your passion and your call to ground claims in facts rather than harmful stereotypes. You're absolutely right that crime is often more about socioeconomic conditions than race, and pointing fingers based on race alone is not only inaccurate but also dangerous. The quote you pulled from the NCJRS is especially important—it shows that poverty and lack of access to resources are key drivers of crime, which is consistent with global trends, not just in South Africa.

Framing crime as a racial issue feeds into long-standing prejudices and ignores the real structural issues that need to be addressed. It's essential that we always challenge claims that generalize entire racial groups, especially when they lack evidence and promote hate.

Thanks for backing up your points with credible sources and encouraging a more honest, informed discussion.

I think this was a great fact check, and it was a good point to talk about harmful stereotypes. I think the quote you used from NCJRS was a good quote to show how crime is more linked to poverty over race. I think something to make your fact check even stronger could be real statistics which can refute the claim's "95%"

You did a great job calling out the biases and stereotypes in the original claim. Your focus on data and evidence, rather than opinion or prejudice, really strengthens your response. Highlighting that crime rates in South Africa are more closely linked to socioeconomic status than race is important! It reminds us that poverty, not race alone, is a key factor influencing crime rates, which aligns with broader trends seen worldwide.
Also, your point about how the claim risks perpetuating harmful racist stereotypes is crucial. It’s important to challenge narratives that unfairly represent entire groups. Including the NCJRS data was a smart move! It grounds your argument in credible research and counters the oversimplified and biased viewpoint of the original claim.
One suggestion to make your response even stronger would be to explicitly acknowledge that crime is a complex issue with multiple contributing factors beyond just race and poverty, such as historical context, systemic inequality, and social policies. But overall, your fact-check thoughtfully addresses the claim with evidence and critical insight. Well done!

Crime statistics should be based on verified data, not personal observations or racial stereotypes. In South Africa, crime is linked to complex factors like poverty, unemployment, and the lasting effected of apartheid--not race. Making unfounded claims about racial groups only promotes harmful prejudices instead of addressing the real social and economic causes of crime.

I enjoy your claim because you checked the claim with common sence although you could have added some data to prove it. It's pretty easy to gather that the original claim is false but to prove it data would be most helpful. Finally I liked the sentence "Making unfounded claims about racial groups only promotes harmful prejudices" and thought you made a strong point.

Thank you for this response. The original post included a link that doesn't exist anymore. It seems like the original post included some personal biases, which led to an extremely exaggerated and misleading post.

Do you have any sources to back up your fact-check? Strong fact-checks include concrete data, expert quotes, and evidence. Thanks!

Great start here, but including concrete evidence and sources to help inform and back up your claim is what will make this a fact-check rather than just an argument, albeit one you seem to have researched. Including evidence will help you create an even stronger response!

Absolutely agree. Crime statistics must be grounded in verified, objective data—not assumptions, hearsay, or racially charged narratives. South Africa’s high crime rates are deeply rooted in its history of systemic inequality, including the lasting impacts of apartheid, which left many communities struggling with poverty, unemployment, and limited access to quality education and healthcare. These are the true drivers of crime, not race.

I like your response because you really acknowledge the root issues with the crime rates rather than just saying that they are not true.

After doing research, theres no clear data that states that 95% of rape crimes, and crimes in general, are committed by Black people in South Africa. This claim seems to be made based on how you specifically feel about the statistics. On South Africa Gateway, it says the population consists of 63 million people. The. breakdown of that is that there is 81% Blacks, 8.5% coloreds, 2.6% Indian/Asian, and 7.2% White. Just from looking a that, you can guess that many crimes are committed by Black residents because they are the majority of the population. But again, there is no concrete evidence or statistics that the Black residents of South Africa commit these crimes.

The hyperlink is really sleek and the whole presentation of this fact check is very professional especially in a situation where someone would like to be unprofessional. The break down of demographics is also really helpful, I appreciate the effort to shoot down this ideology.

You're exactly right to point out that population demographics alone can't be used to draw conclusions about crime rates among specific racial groups—especially without credible, detailed data to support such claims. The fact that Black South Africans make up over 80% of the population means they will naturally be represented in many areas of public life, including crime statistics. But that doesn't equate to causation or justify racial generalizations.

This claim that "95% of rape crimes, and crimes in general, are committed by black people in South Africa" is FLASE and rooted in misinformation. South Africa's population is over 80% Black African, so it's misleading to make generalizations without considering the full context. Crime statistics in South Africa are not consistently broken down by race, and there is no credible evidence to support such a specific and extreme figure. Research also shows that most rape causes in South America are interracial meaning the victim and perpetrator are usually of the same race. This is true across all racial groups and highlights that race is not a useful or fair way to determine criminal behavior.

Good reasoning! I like your approach and logic and is very convincing. However you reference research about how most rape causes in South America are interracial, but don't cite where you got that information. having that as a part of your fact check would strengthen your claims exponentially and would be a great way for others to research this topic as well. Other than that really good job, keep it up!

While this claim is already extremely misleading assuming reputable data, the source of this statistic cannot even be determined. After investigating the source cited, there is nothing to see other than a deleted post on BlueSky, a social media platform. When looking at official crime data from the South African Police Service (SAPS) and Statistics South Africa (Stats SA), there are no shown statistics that agree with the claim being made. Even if this statistic were true, it would still be very misleading, as South Africa has such a large majority proportion of black people in their population. So even if this statistic was true, it would not be any crazy remark to claim that the majority of crime is committed by the majority population group within a society. To go even further, crime rates are well understood to be much more affected by poverty rates, and not by any racial factors.
