"I'm impressed by your thorough research into the authenticity of the photo and the circumstances surrounding its capture, particularly the clarification regarding Jaylen Brown's contract extension. However, I'm intrigued by the bracelet featured in the photo. Have you explored its significance further? Considering it's worn by Jaylen Brown, a notable NBA player, it could hold symbolic or personal meaning. Investigating the bracelet's origin and any potential messages it conveys could enrich our understanding of the image and its context."

As a Boston Celtics fan, I can confirm this is true. This was from a game against the Rockets taken pregame. Multiple Celtics accounts posted the photo showing Jaylen Brown's support of Palestine. It was even posted on the Celtic's account. People have made claims that this is photoshopped but that is false.

I wasn't sure if this was photoshopped or not, either, but seeing that you saw the posts and watched the game when it happened helps me know that it was real. Linking the Instagram post of it helped too.

his claim is true but a little misleading. Jaylen Brown isn’t the highest paid player in the NBA, but from what I’ve found, it does seem to be accurate that he wore a “Free Gaza” bracelet. It was shown on January 21st before the Boston Celtics played the Houston Rockets and the official Celtics Instagram page posted it.

After doing my own research on this photo I can confirm that it is in fact real. There are claims that it may be photoshopped but I was able to find the orginal photo and it isn't photoshopped. The picture was taken on January 21st before the Boston Celtics game versus the Houston Rockets. The reason I am so confident the picture is real is because the Boston Celtics team account posted it on Instagram before the game. However, the misleading part of this article is that they said Jaylen Brown was the highest paid NBA player. I think they are confused because Jaylen signed the 5 year 304 million dollar extension which is the biggest extension ever signed but not the biggest contract ever signed. The highest paid player is actually Stephen Curry who is netting 51.9 million dollars this year.

Great factcheck, I appreciate how you went the extra mile to make sure that it was true without a shadow of a doubt. The fact that the photo was posted by the NBA on Instagram proves its realness.

I think you did a great job with this fact-check. It was really helpful that you were able to track down the original site where the photo was first posted. I agree that it would be pretty credible that an official NBA team account posted it. If they were to photoshop the bracelet on that would be manipulating the photo, something in which I have learned from a college professor and photo journalist as something you absolutely do not do in photos like these, so I would doubt that an official team would post something like that.

I appreciate that you dug and found an original picture that the Celtics posted. Where Brown's support lies is beside the point. As you mentioned, the misleading part of the post is the notion that Brown is the highest paid player in NBA history. That is a far reach, as Steph Curry enjoys the highest yearly salary at nearly $52 million per year. Also, Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson and LeBron James are three of four current/ former professional athletes who have become billionaires (Tiger Woods being the fourth). https://www.forbes.com/sites/brianbushard/2023/10/28/magic-johnsons-a-billionaire---joining-elite-club-of-michael-jordan-lebron-james-and-tiger-woods/?sh=707cf18b64b6

The news that Celtics NBA star Jaylen Brown was spotted wearing a bracelet that says "Free Gaza" in solidarity with Palestine is completely real. Photos showing him wearing the wristband were uploaded to the team's verified Instagram page, confirming the authenticity of the action. The images, which have generated intense debate on social media, are irrefutable evidence of Brown's stance in support of the Palestinian cause. The appearance of an athlete of his caliber showing solidarity with such a sensitive cause highlights the power of public figures to raise awareness of global issues.

Great fact-check. You not only provided the necessary sources from the internet to back your statement, but you also did research to find out who the actual highest-paid player in the NBA is, which is Stephen Curry. Great work!

From what I have found this photo of Jaylen Brown wearing the bracelet is a real photo. It was taken January of 2024. Where this article is misleading is when it claims that Jaylen Brown is the highest paid NBA player in history. I looked into it and found that this information is not accurate. Currently Stephen Curry holds the number one spot of highest paid NBA player at $51.9 million. However Jaylen Brown has a contract for $304 million that will start in the 2024-2025 NBA season this coming October.

How do you know that this photo is real? Is there a credible website that you used to confirm the picture is real and not edited?

When doing my research I only found substantial information from Twitter. I did find the picture displayed in a tweet from January 23, 2024. It isn't the most reliable source because it could be photoshopped but I can see your reasoning to believing it. I also don't think Reddit is the most reliable source as well, it is very much an opinionated based platform.

I think it is really tough to find out if a picture is credible or not in this era of technology with AI and deepfake and all of that. I also researched this topic and found multiple images of him wearing a bracelet, but they were at a tough angle which made it hard to make the decision if the image was real or photoshopped.

I think it is hard to tell if this is a real photo or not, I could not find any reliable sources with the same picture. What sources did you use to see if it was a real photo or not?

I like how you explained why the claim that Jaylen Brown was the highest payed player was false. However, I think it would be helpful to also add how you came to the conclusion that the picture was real

While the photo looks real, I don't think we can definitively say that it is. Given the post was wrong about Jaylen Brown being the highest paid NBA player, it could be trying to mislead with the bracelet as well. I was only able to find the picture on the Palestine subreddit which I will link below.

After looking into this claim, yes the NBA star, Jaylen Brown was wearing a "Free Gaza" bracelet. But the links that were presented a misleading title. It says "Highest paid NBA player in history" which is not true. Just recently, LeBron scored $128 million in earnings for 2023-24 year. After clicking on the links, it barely mentions the "Free Gaza" bracelet as it just provides information on Browns upcoming financial status. He has signed a 5 year contract with the Boston Celtics that stands at $304 million BUT does not start until the 2024-25 season. Lots of misleading information with the claim but the picture is real.

I agree with you on the fact that Jaylen Brown isn't the highest paid athlete in the NBA right now, as the sources you provided denies the claim suggested by the Reddit post.  However, I believe the main focus is suppose to be whether Jaylen Brown was wearing a "Free Gaza" bracelet or not.  I believe you need to provide more evidence on if the photo was real or not, instead of just believing the photos that were provided, on Reddit or Twitter(X).

I think it is funny that the one part of this article that is false is that Jaylen Brown was claimed to be the highest paid athlete in the NBA right now. In regards to him wearing the bracelet I think that it is true as there are multiple reports of him wearing this bracelet. It was nice of you to include your sources proving that Jaylen Brown is not the highest paid athlete.

How were you able to find out if that image wasn't photoshopped or edited? Are there any other sources that would be able to confirm or deny the image?

Is there another article you would suggest that covers the bracelet more? I do think your original answer was spot on. Jalen Brown was wearing the bracelet, that is apparent.  Why do you believe the photo was not photoshopped, is there any evidence?

Is there any other article you would suggest that provides a more comprehensive coverage of the bracelet? I must admit, your original response was on point. It is evident that Jalen Brown was wearing the bracelet, as it can be clearly seen. However, I am curious to know why you believe the photo was not manipulated through Photoshop. Is there any concrete evidence to support this viewpoint?

Based off my research I do believe this photo is real. I found the original picture posted by the official Boston Celtics instagram account. This is more than enough evidence as the account is trustworthy, and would not edit a bracelet like this one on to a player. The salary part in my eyes is not relevant to the post, however he did just sign the biggest extension in NBA history this past off-season, making that part true.

I belive this photo is real and not photoshopped like some people have claimed. I believe it is true because the image was posted by The Celtics offical instagram account. So the claim that he was wearing the "Free Gaza" bracelet does hold up.

I agree with your fact check that this photo is real. The fact that it was posted by the official Boston Celtics Instagram account already suggests that this was not posted with harmful intent. I am wondering how you would rate this fact check. Is it completely true? Or are there areas of the article that are misleading. I would also try to find more background info on the context of the photo such as when it was posted, where it was taken, etc.

How would you rank this fact check, please? Is that all true? Or are there any deceptive passages in the article? Is it accurate to say that Jaylen Brown is currently the most paid basketball player? This is the other claim made in the post. I would investigate the picture and the accusations made about it further.

Upon further investigation, I have concluded that this photo is real. On January 21, 2024, Jaylen Brown arrived to the Celtics/Rockets game in Houston wearing a "Free Gaza" bracelet. However, the caption claiming Jaylen Brown is the highest paid NBA player in history is misleading. Although Jaylen's contract extension is the largest in history, Steph Curry currently has the highest paying contract. According to NBC Sports Chicago, there are multiple players with larger contracts than Brown, until next season starts at least.

I agree with you that it is true about the claim of Jaylen Brown wearing a "free gaza" bracelet. I find it valuable how you add the detail of the date too, these details act as support of the claim during research. I verified your claim about Stephen Curry being the highest paid player in the NBA, which was important to note as it shows how the claim was incorrect and provides accuracy. I think since you referenced multiple other players with larger contracts, you could have improved your fact-check by citing their names because you're referencing them. Additionally, adding multiple sources could help as well, but your response is efficient and strong!

Based on my research of this claim, I can verify that the photograph of Jaylen Brown wearing a 'Free Gaza' bracelet is real. I reversed image searched the attachment on the Reddit post and found that it had been posted by several large platforms on X. Some credible examples are Global Eye News and Jacobin. In this certain situation, it is also important to note Brown's background. As one of the highest paid players in the NBA and a teammate on one of the best professional teams in America, Jaylen Brown has a history of using his platform to share social injustices and his political views. During the Black Lives Matter movement, Brown was an active spokesperson and activist. He is also a Vice President of the National Basketball Players Association, the acknowledged union for the NBA. With this information in mind, I can confidently say that the photograph of Jaylen Brown's wearing a 'Free Gaza' bracelet is real.

Based on more research, the claim in the Reddit post that Jaylen Brown wore a “Free Gaza” Bracelet is true. Jaylen Brown was photographed wearing this bracelet before his team, the Celtics, played the Houston Rockets on January 21, 2024. The picture taken of him wearing the bracelet was posted and taken by the Celtics Instagram account.

The other claim in the Reddit post was that Jaylen Brown is the highest paid player in the NBA, which is false. The highest paid NBA player is reported to be Stephen Curry, with over $51 million salary.

Jaylen Brown did wear a bracelet saying "Free Gaza" on it prior to a game which was captured as he entered the stadium for warmups. While not highly politically active, the photo was posted by several sources and comes from a video recording, suggesting it is not doctored.

This claim is misleading and partially accurate. The claim is correct about the photo of Jaylen Brown (as seen on the Boston Celtics Instagram). They played the Houston Rockets on January 23, 2024. However, the reddit link that was used identifies Brown as the highest paid NBA player in history. This is false. Brown's average salary is $26,583,334. The true highest paid player in the NBA is Stephen Curry, receiving an average salary of $51,915,615.
