This is a false claim. There are multiple fact checking websites that have reviewed this and deemed it untrue. This picture was taken in 2016 when Evens was signing something for a U.S. military man. It is taken out of context in this claim and it is from around 8 years ago.

This is a misleading caption. This photo is real,  however, it was taken during a tour for the United Service Organizations (USO), which gets celebrities to visit the U.S. Military around the world. The first search I found when searching "Chris Evans Gaza" was from this fact check where it states that this tour was held in 2016, and the photo was taken in Turkey. Further looking on this site says that Evans did not even visit Gaza during this trip and only visited Turkey, Qatar, Afghanistan and Germany.

The caption that this Twitter user put is misleading. This photo of Chris Evans was taken in 2016 at the Turkish Air Base and he was just signing it for the camp. This has no relation to the war in Gaza as it was from 8 years ago. I did some digging and found this was actually from the USO holiday tour for Armed forces. Other celebrities such as Scarlett Johansson and Ray Allen were at the base as well. This was just a case of the media looking for a reaction and take photos out of context.

This claim is false. After visiting the X account that posted the picture, I concluded that they are not a reliable source. The account is not ran by an organization, but rather an individual who mainly posts about pop culture. Many of their posts are satirical and they do not have many followers. They likely captioned the Chris Evans with the intention of being funny. 

There have been numerous fact checks conducted on this post already, including ones from Misbar.com and Reuters. Both fact checks link the origin of the post which is from the Flickr account of the Office of the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff for Public Affairs. 

The caption revealed the true context behind the image. The photo was taken on December 5, 2016 in Turkey. Chris Evans and other celebrities met with service members at Incirlik Air Base. The groups was on tour for the United Service Organizations which arranges for celebrities to visit U.S. military personnel serving around the world. The other man in the picture, Marine General Joseph F. Dunford Jr., is wearing a uniform that clearly labels him as U.S. Air Force. 

This Flickr account proves the claim is false because the image was taken in 2016 and has no ties to the current Israel Gaza conflict. 

This is an example of false context because while the picture is real, the X user re-circulated it out of its original context.

This claim is completely false, as others mentioned, and as I found throughout my reading is the fact that Chris signed this shell during a promotional tour in 2016. The shell was a relic and was in no way going to be fired at any point in time. I did some additional digging on the author of the article and found that the user Tiana, (the username is a little wild) is a heavy supporter of Palestine and that her account was also suspended after posting this picture on X previously known as twitter. This post is no longer up on her page but it seems as if she is misinforming with possibly not knowing that she is.

After doing some research, I found that this photo of Chris is real and did occur. This photo was not altered in any way. 

After putting this image into Google Images, I learned that this is a photo from 2016 CJCS USO Holiday Tour.

The image was taken when Chris Evans visited service members on the USO chairman’s holiday tour. There are many images of Chris Evans alongside army members in the sources published in 2016. Evans is wearing the same outfit in the photos in 2016 as the photo that is being claimed to be for Israeli bombs for Gaza. Fact-check sources like snopes.com also checked this claim and proved that “The photograph was taken on a base in Turkey, while Evans also visited military bases in Afghanistan on the same trip.” Therefore the caption following the X post of this photo is misleading because the image is real but the caption includes false information to mislead the audience. The source that uploaded this claim is not reliable. The X user has 1,812 followers as well as mostly reposts other accounts’ posts. Their content does not seem original and lacks reliability.
