Actor Chris Evans signed Israeli bombs intended for Gaza.

I like how you acknowledged that this picture is a real, unaltered photo.

Although Chris Evans wasn't signing this shell to be sent to Gaza, he was signing a shell for the Air force. It is important to see this spectrum of misinformation, where a image can be real but the caption can be misleading.

I liked how you immediately shot down the claim and included a link to the photo that was taken out of context. This photo has been manipulated and edited. Great clear and straight-to-the-point answer.

I really like how you proved that this image was real, but had other intentions when it was taken many years ago. I like how you also used evidence to disprove this claim.

This is a false claim. There are multiple fact checking websites that have reviewed this and deemed it untrue. This picture was taken in 2016 when Evens was signing something for a U.S. military man. It is taken out of context in this claim and it is from around 8 years ago.

Good fact check! I like that you pointed out that the photo is real and not altered. Seeing that is from almost 8 years ago and in Turkey I would agree that this claim is false.

I like how you went to other fact-checking sites to see if the claim has already been reviewed. It's a great way to go upstream toward the source. I also like how you linked the sources you used because it makes it easier for someone to refer to the sites you used. One thing that can make this fact check even stronger is to explain the context of the original X page that posted the false claim. I found that they post a lot of satirical content.

Great fact-check. You provide ample, valid resources. You show that you have done extensive research on the information that you provided. The information provided proves that the original claim is false.

Great fact check! Pointing out the fact that the photo was 8 years old and people were using it to make false claims backed up your claim. Good job providing proper context that was initially left out of the original post with the intent of misleading people.

Great job fact checking this claim by bringing up when the photo was actually taken.

This is a good fact check! It is important to realize when the media is portraying lies. I appreciated you also including when the picture was actually taken and in what context.

Although the picture is real, its misleading. Snopes.com says, "The photograph is authentic, but it was taken in 2016 and shows Evans signing a shell for a U.S. Air Force airman while visiting the Incirlik Air Base in Turkey." and is unrelated to the Israeli and Gaza conflict.

I like how you used a direct quote and cited it as well. It is essential to include that the photo is real, but the caption that goes along with it is misleading and spreading disinformation, which is for the purpose of spreading false information on purpose. I like your response, and I think something that would also help this response would be to add another source to your list to show great research.

I like how you used a fact-checking website, they are quite useful. I use Snopes all the time. I like how you pointed out what kind of fact news it was. It seems in this age people take true photos such as Chris Evans signing a shell for the U.S. military in Trukery in 2016 and it gets turned into a pro-Palestinian propaganda picture with a completely different meaning.

I like how you used Snopes because it is a fact-checking site, but I wish you would find more sources to back up your answer. It would help the fack-check if you would expand more on your findings to give you more credibility.

Great fact-check! I appreciate how you address that this is an authentic and genuine photo taken out of context. I also appreciate how you included another fact-checking website as a source. However, I think it would be beneficial for you to find the original photo and link it, as well as including more than one source. This will make your fact-check  more reliable as there is more evidence to support it.

I appreciate that you utilized a credible outside source to determine that the photo was misleading. I like how you mentioned that the photo is real, but old and completely unrelated to current events. Now, I know that Chris Evans did not in fact sign bombs intended for Gaza.

This is a misleading caption. This photo is real,  however, it was taken during a tour for the United Service Organizations (USO), which gets celebrities to visit the U.S. Military around the world. The first search I found when searching "Chris Evans Gaza" was from this fact check where it states that this tour was held in 2016, and the photo was taken in Turkey. Further looking on this site says that Evans did not even visit Gaza during this trip and only visited Turkey, Qatar, Afghanistan and Germany.

I used the same source when conducting my fact check! I think you did a great job proving that the claim is false, yet acknowledging that the actual photo is real. I also like how you added a direct quote and hyper-linked the fact check site. It shows you did good research. One suggestion I have is to talk about the original Twitter account that posted the image and if it's trustworthy or not. I found the source to not be reliable.

The caption that this Twitter user put is misleading. This photo of Chris Evans was taken in 2016 at the Turkish Air Base and he was just signing it for the camp. This has no relation to the war in Gaza as it was from 8 years ago. I did some digging and found this was actually from the USO holiday tour for Armed forces. Other celebrities such as Scarlett Johansson and Ray Allen were at the base as well. This was just a case of the media looking for a reaction and take photos out of context.

This is misleading, more specifically the caption. Snopes, a fact checking website states confirmed that this photo was taken in 2016 while he was on tour for the United States Service Organizations. This photo was taken while visiting the Incirlik Air Base in Turkey. He was signing a shell for a US Air Force airman.

This photo is miscaptioned. It is a real picture, but the caption is misleading.

According to Snopes.com and several other sources, this photo, taken Dec. 5, 2016, shows Chris Evans signing what looks like a shell for a U.S. Air Force airman on the Incirlik Air Base in Turkey. Evans and other celebrities were on the base to visit U.S. military personnel as part of a tour for the United Service Organizations, nothing related to the Gaza-Israel conflict.

"The photograph was not taken in Israel, nor was the apparent weapon that Evans was signing intended for Gaza...It is not clear what exact weapon Evans was signing, although it looks similar to an artillery shell, nor is it known where that item was intended to be used," Snopes.com states.

This link leads to the posting of the photo and its true caption uploaded by the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff on Dec. 6, 2016: https://www.flickr.com/photos/thejointstaff/31431087036/in/album-72157675768547122/

I really appreciate that you included multiple sources in your fact check along with the date from the original photo. However, I to make this fact-check stronger I would elaborate more on the other sources during your findings such as explaining how they are reliable and what information it's providing in debunking the false claim.

This claim is false. After visiting the X account that posted the picture, I concluded that they are not a reliable source. The account is not ran by an organization, but rather an individual who mainly posts about pop culture. Many of their posts are satirical and they do not have many followers. They likely captioned the Chris Evans with the intention of being funny.

There have been numerous fact checks conducted on this post already, including ones from Misbar.com and Reuters. Both fact checks link the origin of the post which is from the Flickr account of the Office of the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff for Public Affairs.

The caption revealed the true context behind the image. The photo was taken on December 5, 2016 in Turkey. Chris Evans and other celebrities met with service members at Incirlik Air Base. The groups was on tour for the United Service Organizations which arranges for celebrities to visit U.S. military personnel serving around the world. The other man in the picture, Marine General Joseph F. Dunford Jr., is wearing a uniform that clearly labels him as U.S. Air Force.

This Flickr account proves the claim is false because the image was taken in 2016 and has no ties to the current Israel Gaza conflict.

This is an example of false context because while the picture is real, the X user re-circulated it out of its original context.

I think this is an excellent fact-check. It is super important to look at the original source that made the claim and that is exactly what you did. Understanding the original source can help verify the reliability. Good work on checking fact checks already made by reliable sources. You also found when the original content was created and what was actually happening to prove the claim to be false.

This claim is completely false, as others mentioned, and as I found throughout my reading is the fact that Chris signed this shell during a promotional tour in 2016. The shell was a relic and was in no way going to be fired at any point in time. I did some additional digging on the author of the article and found that the user Tiana, (the username is a little wild) is a heavy supporter of Palestine and that her account was also suspended after posting this picture on X previously known as twitter. This post is no longer up on her page but it seems as if she is misinforming with possibly not knowing that she is.

This fact check was well done and shared important aspects about the agent. Understanding the creator of the claim is important to see if there is bias involved in the claim and it seems you did the research to share about the X user. Proving that user was suspended for misinformation is important in determining the truth behind the claim.

After doing some research, I found that this photo of Chris is real and did occur. This photo was not altered in any way.

After putting this image into Google Images, I learned that this is a photo from 2016 CJCS USO Holiday Tour.

https://www.dvidshub.net/image/3033976/cjcs-uso-holiday-tour-2016

This claim is false since this happen years ago before the events the claim is stating. This photo is real and Chris Evans was just signing something for a someone in the military. This photo was just paired with a false claim and made it look like something it isn't.

This claim is misleading and false. Although the image of Chris Evans is real, it was captured in 2016. The image was taken when Chris Evans visited service members on the USO chairman’s holiday tour. There are many images of Chris Evans alongside army members in the sources published in 2016. Evans is wearing the same outfit in the photos in 2016 as the photo that is being claimed to be for Israeli bombs for Gaza. Fact-check sources like snopes.com also checked this claim and proved that “The photograph was taken on a base in Turkey, while Evans also visited military bases in Afghanistan on the same trip.” Therefore the caption following the X post of this photo is misleading because the image is real but the caption includes false information to mislead the audience. The source that uploaded this claim is not reliable. The X user has 1,812 followers as well as mostly reposts other accounts’ posts. Their content does not seem original and lacks reliability.
